Mining, Geology, & Beneficiation

Phosphate Consulting LLC offers extensive experience in all aspects of phosphate resource evaluation including geology, geostatistics, mining, and beneficiation. Over the last 41 years, Phosphate Consulting LLC team members have participated in the development of phosphate mines and beneficiation plants throughout the world, comprising both sedimentary and igneous phosphate ore types. Beneficiation plant audits and due diligence programs executed by team members have covered all aspects of resource evaluation, geology, mining, and beneficiation; and provided our clients with recommendations for improvements for both existing and proposed facilities.

The configuration of a phosphate mine and beneficiation plant with respect to the downstream fertilizer facilities is economically important because phosphate rock has a relatively low unit price. In today’s global economy, phosphate rock must be produced to meet client-specific quality specifications at a competitive price. Phosphate Consulting LLC specializes in integrating beneficiation with mining, geology, and downstream facilities for processing phosphate rock in order to maximize the overall economic return.

Phosphoric Acid & Fertilizers

The Phosphate Consulting LLC team has extensive experience in both dihydrate and hemihydrate phosphoric acid processing technologies. The Phosphate Consulting LLC team also has experience in sulfuric acid, ammonia, MAP/DAP, TSP, NPK, ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, and animal feeds (DCP). The Phosphate Consulting LLC team has been involved in the development of innovative methods to upgrade phosphoric acid to produce international standard grade granular fertilizers in cases where the phosphate rock and/or filter acid quality is historically unsuitable for that purpose.

Phosphate Consulting LLC, in association with ArrMaz Custom Chemicals, operates a phosphoric acid pilot plant in Mulberry, Florida, USA. The pilot plant can be configured to simulate either the dihydrate or hemi-hydrate process routes. The Phosphate Consulting LLC team has the experience to design pilot plant test programs that can be used to evaluate either or both processing routes, to determine expected product quality, and to produce the requisite information for subsequent plant design and estimation of capital costs.

In addition, Phosphate Consulting LLC is familiar with the latest advances in phosphoric acid technology, including the Improved Hard Process (IHP). The IHP is a patented process for the conversion of low-grade phosphate rock into highly concentrated and pure phosphoric acid for less cost than the wet acid process and without the production of phosphogypsum or any high-volume solid waste.
